The Lake County Department of Tourism and Business Relations is responsible for a host of functions to promote and help strengthen the local tourism industry and business community.

A majority of the Department is funded by resort tax collections. The Department uses these funds to help with the development of local events through sponsorships and advertising campaigns. The Department also assists organizations coordinating events by providing essential support services, such as printing of programs, promotional mailings and media marketing. These activities generate capacity building for events, increase collections in the resort tax and result in economic benefits to all of Lake County.

Developing partnerships in the community is extremely important to the operations of the Department. In 2006, the Department partnered with Lake-Sumter Community College and the National Training Center for the construction of a large sports facility on the South Lake Campus of the College. This facility is expected to be an asset in advancing sporting activities in Lake County. The Department also recently partnered with the City of Leesburg to construct the Sleepy Hollow Sports Complex.

In the business relations capacity, the Department assists existing businesses in the Christopher C. Ford Commerce Park as well as those businesses that are seeking to expand an existing facility or to relocate to the Commerce Park. The Department partners with the Lake County Department of Economic Growth and Redevelopment with providing assistance to the business community and to encourage new and existing businesses to take advantage of the available incentive programs.

In addition, the Lake County Department of Tourism and Business Relations manages the Lake County Fairgrounds and the Lake County Historical Museum.
